Piktronik Joins MODEL2 Consortium: Advancing the Next Generation of Resilient Modular Bases
Following the successful completion of the MODEL+ project, Piktronik is excited to announce its participation in the successor initiative, MODEL2 – Resilient Militarised Living Modules for Deployable Bases.
The MODEL2 project, which recently secured €4.9 million in funding from the Slovenian Ministry of Defence, represents a significant leap forward in smart, energy-independent, and resilient modular construction. Building on our work in MODEL+—where we developed high-voltage battery storage systems—Piktronik continues to provide critical technical expertise to the consortium led by REM d.o.o.
The 36-month RDI project focuses on "dual-use" technology, creating modules that are robust enough for military deployable bases while being perfectly suited for civilian emergency scenarios, such as natural disasters and temporary medical facilities. Key features of the new system include:
- Advanced energy management and storage solutions.
- Integration of renewable energy sources and waste heat recovery.
- AI-supported digital twins for real-time performance optimization.
Piktronik is honored to contribute to this high-tech Slovenian consortium, strengthening the domestic industry’s position in the field of advanced defense and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
